معروف سماجی رہنماء عبدالستار ایدھی کی خدمات کو خراج عقیدت پیش کرنے کے لیے انٹرنیٹ کی معروف ویب سائٹ ’’گوگل ڈاٹ کام‘‘ کی جانب سے مین صفحے پر عبدالستار ایدھی کا نام آویزاں کردیا گیا۔ تفصیلات کے مطابق معروف سماجی رہنماء کی انسانی خدمات کو خراج عقیدت پیش کرنے کے لیے گوگل نے اپنے ہوم پیج پر ’’عبدالستار ایدھی‘‘ کا نام اُن کی پیدائش اور انتقال تک کے سفر کی تاریخ کو آویزاں کیا ہے۔عبدالستار ایدھی کے نام پر کلک کرنے سے اُن سے متعلق خبروں کے صفحات کی تفصیل سامنے آرہی ہے، جس میں ان کی اور ایدھی فاؤنڈیشن کی جانب سے انسانیت کی لیے کی گئی خدمات اور اقدامات کو بیان کیا گیا ہے۔ ایک طرف عبدالستار ایدھی کی نجی زندگی سے متعلق پوری تفصیل دی گئی ہے جس میں اُن کی تاریخ پیدائش، آبائی علاقہ، ان کی اہلیہ ، بچوں اور بہن بھائیوں کے نام تحریر کیے گیے ہیں جبکہ ایدھی فاؤنڈیشن کے نام سے بھی ایک لنک دیا گیا ہے جس پر کلک کرنے سے اس ادارے کے قیام، اعراض و مقاصد اور تمام خدمات کی تفصیلات تحریر کی گئی ہیں۔

قبل ازیں گوگل کی جانب سے سانحہ آرمی پبلک اسکول کے شہداء کو خراج تحسین پیش کرنے اور اُن کے اہل خانہ سے اظہار یکجہتی کے لیے اپنے ہوم پیج پر موم بتی کے نشان کو آویزاں کیا تھا۔ اسی طرح موسیقی کی دنیا میں عالمی شہرت پانے والے معروف پاکستانی گلوکار نصرت فتح علی خان کی گزشتہ سال برسی کے موقع پر اُن کو خراج تحسین پیش کیا گیا تھا۔

Abdul Sattar Edhi was a prominent Pakistani philanthropist, social activist, ascetic, and humanitarian. He was the founder and head of the Edhi Foundation in Pakistan and ran the organization for the better part of six decades. To this day, the Edhi Foundation continues to grow in both size and service, and is currently the largest welfare organisation in Pakistan. Since its inception, the Edhi Foundation has rescued over 20,000 abandoned infants, rehabilitated over 50,000 orphans and has trained over 40,000 nurses.[citation needed] It also runs more than 330 welfare centres in rural and urban Pakistan which operate as food kitchens, rehabilitation homes, shelters for abandoned women and children and clinics for the mentally handicapped.

The Edhi Foundation, founded by Edhi, runs the world's largest ambulance service (operating 1,500 of them) and offers 24-hour emergency services. It also operates free nursing homes, orphanages, clinics, women's shelters, and rehab centres for drug addicts and mentally ill individuals.It has run relief operations in Africa, Middle East, the Caucasus region, eastern Europe and United States where it provided aid following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. His son Faisal Edhi, wife Bilquis Edhi and daughters managed the daily operations of the organization during his ill health.

Edhi was influenced by Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Mother Teresa. He was referred as Pakistan's version of Mother Teresa, and the BBC wrote that he was considered "Pakistan's most respected figure and was seen by some as almost a saint."
